"Engaging in Public Affairs gives me the chance to bridge two interdependent worlds. Translating private and public actors’ needs into concrete actions for EU institutions gives me the opportunity to assist in the mutual process that drives the EU forward."
Ward Scheelen joined Dr2 Consultants in August 2018. He is intrigued by the ins and outs of the European policy-making process and has a keen interest in European action in key sectors such as sustainability and energy. Because of his legal education, he is also passionate about constitutional issues in the EU such as EU citizenship, fundamental rights and internal cooperation, as well as the work of the Court of Justice of the EU.
Ward obtained his Bachelor’s degree in law at the University of Hasselt, Belgium, after which he obtained his Master’s degree in European and international law at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. Because of his strong interest in European decision-making processes, he then obtained an Advanced Master in European Politics and Policies, also at the Catholic University of Leuven. During his studies, Ward did internships at a law firm and at the legal office of the Belgian province of Limburg. Furthermore, he volunteered at the international student organisation AIESEC and also spent half a year on Erasmus exchange in Nice, France.
