"Engaging in Public Affairs gives me the chance to bridge two interdependent worlds. Translating private and public actors’ needs into recommendations for EU institutions gives me the opportunity to assist in the process that drives the EU forward."
Ward is intrigued by the ins and outs of the European policy-making process and has a keen interest in European action in key sustainability sectors such as packaging, energy and transport. Because of his legal education, he is also passionate about the work of the Court of Justice of the EU on constitutional issues in the EU such as EU citizenship, fundamental rights and internal cooperation.
Ward obtained his Bachelor’s degree in law at the University of Hasselt, Belgium, after which he obtained his Master’s degree in European and international law at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. Because of his strong interest in European decision-making processes, he then obtained an Advanced Master in European Politics and Policies, also at the Catholic University of Leuven. During his studies, Ward did internships at a law firm and at the legal office of the Belgian province of Limburg. Furthermore, he volunteered at the international student organisation AIESEC and also spent half a year on Erasmus exchange in Nice, France.
