Belgian Public Affairs
Get familiar with the complexity of Belgian politics and the share of competences across the different government levels. Our Belgian Public Affairs trainings provide you with the right tools to navigate the Belgian maze effectively.
During a half-day online training, you will gain insights into the composition and modus operandi of the Belgian parliaments and governments, and explore the benefits of conducting Public Affairs campaigns. This training provides you with the knowledge about Belgian decision-making procedures and will equip you with the right tools to effectively represent the interests of your organization towards political institutions. Our training will also reflect on the priorities of the Belgian recovery plans after the COVID-19 crisis.
After this training you will be able to:
- Navigate the Belgian maze of six governments and six parliaments and their competences;
- Understand the Belgian decision-making procedures;
- Identify which initiatives following the recovery plans will impact your organization;
- Develop and implement a Public Affairs strategy based on our suggested tools.
The first part of the training provides a theoretical overview of the institutions and decision-making procedures in Belgium. The second part will focus on Public Affairs and the do’s and don’ts of lobbying in Belgian politics and some practical examples. The training will be held in English.

EU Public Affairs: the European Green Deal | Fit for 55 package
Get up-to-speed with the European Green Deal, Fit for 55 and understand the impact of this landmark roadmap on your organization.
Whether you are a frontrunner in your respective field or a company which is challenged by sustainability policies, the policies presented in the “Fit for 55” package will affect your business. With this package of legislative climate and energy proposals, presented on 14 July, the European Commission aims at reducing emissions by at least 55% in 2030 and contributing to the European Green Deal objectives.
The “Fit for 55” package will address a wide range of policy areas, including transport, energy and international trade. This landmark package, covering 11 legislative proposals, includes revisions of several existing legislative acts, including the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), the Renewable Energy Directive and the Energy Taxation Directive. It will also introduce new instruments, such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.

- Navigate the EU maze of institutional departments and stakeholders dealing with environmental issues, and get acquainted with the power balance between the EU institutions;
- Develop and implement a Public Affairs strategy on a legislative file related to the “Fit for 55” package.

The EU digitalization agenda: what should we expect?
Achieving a Digital Europe has been a core priority of the European Commission since the start of President Ursula von der Leyen’s mandate. The COVID-19 pandemic has added a tremendous sense of urgency to accelerate this transformation. To respond to such unprecedented challenges, the Commission is increasingly focusing its agenda on what is needed to enhance the digital transition of the European economy. The Commission’s plans will have an impact on all sectors, with crucial discussions and negotiations on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital skills, data, and more. The COVID-19 crisis has presented unprecedented challenges for the transport sector, but also demonstrated the crucial role transport plays to ensure an uninterrupted supply of goods and services across Europe. The recovery of the transport sector will be used to pave the way for a resilient, reliable, and sustainable sector at the heart of the European Green Deal. Transport-related emissions will have to be significantly reduced, the resilience of the sector will have to be increased, and digital technologies are expected to contribute to cleaner, smarter, and more efficient transport.
